The erbium yag laser is a resurfacing laser. This is done by directing an intense beam or light at the skin, causing vapiirization of the water in the skin . It brings significant improvement to sun and age spots and softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. You can choose a lunchtime laser peel,, or a full resurfacing treatment. Erbium lasers can be ablative (remove the entire epidermis) or non-ablative (leave a percentage of the epidermis intact) . I use the Spectrum laser to deliver specific pulses of energy. Numbing cream is used, but the discomfort is minimal.
You can expect two to three days of moderated redness with a partially ablative, and up to two weeks of redness and swelling with a fully ablative.
